As part of Grupo Bimbo, the world’s largest bakery company based in Mexico City, Grupo Bimbo UK Ltd operates three manufacturing sites in the UK and has its HQ in Heathrow, London. We manufacture baked goods for the UK retail and out of home markets, and export products to a number of countries.
We directly employ around 550 associates in the UK. We are therefore required to publish data in respect of the new statutory provisions on Gender Pay Gap reporting.
Our report shows that we have a mean pay gap of 9% and a median pay gap of 17%.
As an employer we ensure that pay for men and women is equal where they are carrying out the same or similar roles.
The pay gap identified in this report is wholly attributable the fact that we have disproportionately higher numbers of men in our more senior roles and we are now working hard to address this. This imbalance also explains the difference in the bonus payments where higher payments are made to those in more senior positions and having a majority of males in the more senior levels exacerbates this issue.
The male / female split in our quartile figures is broadly aligned with the proportion of men and women in each of those groups.
Grupo Bimbo UK Ltd is satisfied that there is no gender bias in the pay of males and females where our associates perform the same roles.
